This kind of literature/art is completely different than what other graphic novels express and I am so thankful that my KS201 course was able to expose me to Maus. Unfortunately, the majority of my family relatives did not survive the Holocaust and it is vital that I constantly remember and think about what happened because it’s the history that my family experienced. Even if you are not Jewish this graphic novel is amazing! It tells the story of the author, Art Spiegelman’s father experiences of the war and him being a prisoner/survivor at Auschwitz. The Jewish people are drawn as mice, the Nazi’s as cats. It is so griping that I can’t put it down (unless it is at night or else I get night terrors…). I highly recommend it; even to those who claim that they don’t read/like comic books. It also won the Pulitzer Prize…
I got a copy of this in my room, but never got around to reading it.
